Dear Mr. Smith:

My unique mix of previous work experience and my current status as a Stetson University business student in my junior year studying marketing makes me an ideal candidate for a summer internship with Universal Orlando.

My experience in sales and customer relationship management, combined with my courses in marketing, has convinced me that hospitality marketing is a career option I would like to explore.

More importantly, an internship with Universal Orlando would be mutually beneficial. Your company has an excellent reputation for customer satisfaction, and I know that the combination of my experience, education, and motivation to excel will make me an asset to your marketing department.

I am sure that it would be worthwhile for us to meet. I will contact you within a week to arrange a meeting. Should you have any questions before that time, you may reach me via phone (123-456 7890) or via email (richard@abc.edu).

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Smith:

I am a junior at Virginia Tech, working toward my bachelor's degree in family and child development. I am seeking an internship for this summer 2005 and while researching opportunities in the field of criminal justice and law, I found that your program works with juvenile delinquents. I am writing to inquire about possible internship opportunities with the Marion County Family Court Wilderness Challenge.

My work background and coursework have supplied me with many skills and an understanding of dealing with the adolescent community; for example:

  • I worked as a hotline assistant for a local intervention center. I counseled teenagers about personal concerns and referred them, when necessary, to appropriate professional services for additional help.
  • I have been active at my university as a resident hall assistant, which requires me to establish rapport with fifty residents and advise them on personal matters and university policies. In addition, I develop social and educational programs and activities each semester for up to 200 participants.

My enclosed resume provides additional details about my background.

I will be in the Marion area during my Summer break, May 3 - May 7.  I will call you next week to see if it would be possible to meet with you in early March to discuss your program.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Smith:

I am interested in applying for the scientific research summer internship programme that was listed under the name, "University Career Services Office".

I have had a great deal of laboratory experience in chemistry, biology, and geology, both indoors and in the field. In the lab, I have performed chemical reactions and I am currently observing many specimens using a microscope. In environmental field studies, I have conducted outdoor labs to assess water chemistry.

Last summer, I worked as conservation assistant at Clumber National Park. I am seeking to complement this outdoor experience with a research internship in order to acquire the background necessary for a future career in scientific research.

I believe that I would be an asset to your program. This internship would provide me with the ideal opportunity to assist at your organization and to expand my research skills.

I will call next week to check whether my qualifications match with the required position for the internship programme. If so, I hope to schedule an interview at a mutually convenient time. I look forward to speaking with you.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
